with: Inge Maux

Brigitte Schwaiger (1949-2010) and Eva Deutsch (1924-1990), played by Inge Maux, stand as examples for the history of two successive generations from the 20th century.
In “The Galician Woman” (1982), then 60-year-old Polish Jew Eva Deutsch gradually told her life (and survival) story to bestseller author Brigitte Schwaiger.
“Fallen lassen” (2006) is not just a “book on psychiatry”, as Brigitte Schwaiger called it herself, but above all the downright autobiographic and brutally open summary of a psychiatric disorder that lasted for 30 years. It deals not so much with her personal condition as with the social dimension of an illness, which becomes a mirror to our society.
The ambivalent attitude towards life that accompanied both women, which they speak about in a sometimes quite humorous and laconic manner, revolved mostly between wanting to live vs. being free to live.

Actress Inge Maux portrays Brigitte Schwaiger and Eva Deutsch, combining these two female figures in herself. Writing them down gains them their lives, they mark and “construct” their existential space through their language, through recounting, writing and searching, until they themselves disappear in it.
